Search entries
A name, location, or similar term entered into a site search tool is transmitted to the independent provider that operates that tool. Mississippi County Busted Mugshots does not keep a separate log of those submitted search terms on its own systems.
Messages
If you send an email or message through a site contact method, we may retain the information needed to read it and reply. We do not share that message outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical data from visits
Like most web services, the site and its service providers may receive routine technical information when a page loads. That information can include:
- an internet protocol address;
- browser name and version;
- device type and operating system;
- pages viewed and the time spent on them;
- the referring page, when one is supplied; and
- visit dates and times.
Cookies and similar tools
Cookies and comparable technologies help us understand site use and maintain basic service functions. A browser can block or remove cookies, though doing so may change how some features work.
How collected data is used
We use the information described above to operate and improve the site. In particular, it may help us:
- keep pages available and responsive;
- send a search submission to the appropriate partner service;
- understand which reference pages are useful;
- detect, diagnose, and address technical problems; and
- support advertising that may be selected by interest.
External sites and advertising
Links to the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri courts, Missouri DOC, or another official custodian lead to separate websites. The privacy practices of those Missouri public bodies and of independent search providers apply after a visitor leaves this site. Their treatment of submitted information is not controlled by us.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and tailor advertisements. That activity occurs under the partner’s privacy terms, not under this notice.
When data may be shared
We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be disclosed to the following recipients when needed for the stated purpose:
- search partners that process a submitted query;
- analytics providers that help measure site performance;
- advertising networks that serve or measure advertisements; and
- law-enforcement agencies or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure.
Security practices
We use reasonable safeguards intended to protect information in our control. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and we cannot promise that any transmission or stored information will be free from unauthorized access.
Visitors under 18
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent personal information through a site contact method, a parent or guardian may ask us to delete it.
Choices about your data
Subject to applicable law and the limits of information actually held, a visitor may request the following:
- a copy of personal information we retain;
- correction of inaccurate personal information;
- deletion of personal information; or
- an opt-out from certain processing where that option is available.

We may revise this Privacy Notice as the site or its services change. A revised version will appear here with an updated effective date, and continued use after posting is subject to the revised notice.
